Restaurants To Put on Your Radar: The Canary Club

Restaurants these days are always looking for an edge when it comes to entertainment. Thankfully, The Canary Club is sticking to a time tested formula of early evening jazz and late night dance music in order to set the tone. Located in Mahhattan’s Lower East Side. The Canary Club is singing the praises of Louisiana’s culinary scene along with a design that mixes in surrealist elements for modern day diners in need of a colorful retreat.

The menus, which include one for the main dining room as well as smaller list of bites for the lounge area, focus on seafood and veggies. From wood fired oysters to black sesame carrot tempura, guests can find plates to share or snack on. But remember don’t get something crunchy if you’re going to watch a musical performance, it’s distracting and yes everyone can hear you chew. For those that pre-game before a show by eating aggressively, entrees include a roasted squab with creole butter and a blackened dry aged beef with tamarind and green chili. Those craving some Louisiana favorites will find a seafood boudin, prawns, and petite cochon (pork) and clams.

Drinks will include riffs on classic cocktails as well as natural wines and non-alcoholic options. A private room, The Canary Supper Club, will host salon style dinners, guest chef pop ups, and additional private events.
