Weekend Vibes: Tapping the Pumpkin Keg

You could spend this weekend visiting beautiful wineries decked out in your finest plaid shirts and vests. And while that sounds nice on paper, once you get to this magical local winery, we regret to inform you that EVERYONE else there had the same idea as you. But that’s why you read these sweet blog posts, isn’t it? You want a taste for something local, something that says, “No I don’t have to wait in line behind a woman who is definitely going to trip over those stylish boots after one more glass of pinot.” So without further ado, here’s whats we’ve got our eyes on for events that won’t make scream (seriously, we completely avoided spooky haunted houses this week).

Drink Beer from a Tapped Pumpkin, Loreley, 7 Rivington Street, Manhattan, Friday through Saturday

We know we’ve given plenty of coverage to Oktoberfest events this month, but this picture of a pumpkin with a tap in it was just too good to keep to ourselves. Also, classic German biergartens really are hard to find in New York these days, which is why we love Loreley so much. They’re filling real pumpkins with Southern Tier Pumpkin Ale and on weekends run specials on pumpkin spiced cocktails along with happy hours.

AppleFest, Pier A Harbor House, 22 Battery Place, Manhattan, Saturday and Sunday

Listen, getting to Battery Place isn’t convenient unless you live way downtown. But if you haven’t been, it provides one of the best places views and places to escape in NYC. This weekend, Angry Orchard cider will be hosting a fall festival which includes live music, apple cider cocktails, lawn games, and more.

Zadies Leisurely

Oyster Shucking, Zadie’s Oyster Room, 413 East 12 Street, Sunday

Oh that’s right, if you haven’t noticed we’ve been shouting to the high heavens that oysters shucking at Zadie’s Oyster Room is back on Leisurely. For those of you who never scroll down, we’re putting this up top to make sure you’ve taken a hard look. Three glasses of wine as well as prepared cooked oyster dishes are included in addition to whatever you’re able to pry out of that oyster’s fresh smack talking mouth.
