Weekend Vibes: Strutt That Mutt People, NY Times Food Festival and Pickle Day!

How do you plan to take in this lovely fall weekend? From pups to pickles, and possibly using this time to pick up a decent Halloween costume, we’ve got a fine selection of Leisurely things to do

Strut Your Mutt, Hudson River Park, Pier 84 Hells Kitchen, Saturday, 10 AM

The weekend doesn’t always have to be about you. In fact, we think spending Saturday by watching dogs mingle with other dogs at Hudson River Park might be the feel good event of the year. As long they don’t bark. Or bite. Or break free of a leash. Then it’s definitely not the feel good event we think it is. Six Point Brewery will host dog trivia in its beer garden, while dog yoga, doggie treats, and donations to local animal shelters will make this party paw-fect.

The New York Times Food Festival, Bryant Park, Saturday and Sunday, 12 pm to 6 pm Sat.; 12 pm to 5 pm Sunday

A superstar line up of chefs including Massimo Bottura. The food world’s equivalent of a unicorn, Pete Wells. And Action Bronson were all apparently free this weekend to meet up and talk at The New York Time’s Food Festival, which will indeed feature food from a wide selection of vendors like Frenchette and Morgenstern’s. There’s also a variety of special dinners available via Resy for purchase in case eating food all day and listening to people talk about food all day make you hungry for food at night. Tickets can be reserved here.

Lower East Side Pickle Day, Orchard Street, Sunday, 12 pm

You don’t need to be a baseball player to find yourself in a pickle on Sunday. The Lower East Side’s historic pickle district returns for one day to share a fine selection of salty, spicy, and sweet pickles . This year will also feature bites from the new Essex Market and soon to debut Market Line (the website it says its going to debut in October so you’re definitely going to be one of the first to see if their vendors are legit). Watch the video above to experience the adventures of a pickle in New York City.
