Weekend Vibes: Prepping for Turkey Day

With America’s most politically charged week now coming to a close, it’s about time you reward yourself for exercising your right to vote. Because we’re pretty sure politics is going to come up at the table on Turkey Day, use this time wisely to relax and possibly train your body to handle extra portions of stuffing. Or head out to one of these most excellent events.

Ciderfeast, Biba of Williamsburg, 110 Kent Avenue, Brooklyn, Saturday, 1 pm to 4 pm

Cider is one America’s most treasured drinks, so it’s no wonder there’s a festival dedicated exclusively to this drink. In addition to sampling a variety of ciders from across New York State and beyond, you’ll be able to snack on country ham, pork belly, conservas, and cheese. Author and cider expert James Rich will also be in attendance to sign copies of his book Apple: Recipes from the Orchard, so you basically don’t have to freak out about what kind of dessert to bring to Thanksgiving this year. Tickets are $55 and include all food and cider tastings; reserve them here.

Brooklyn Crush Wine Festival, Industry City, 220 36th Street, Brooklyn, Saturday, 1 pm to 10 pm

Listen, we gotta be honest here, it’s a food and wine festival. You probably don’t need an explanation of what this event has to offer. But while you’re in Industry City, you should get a lay of the land because Leisurely is offering coffee cupping classes at Gumption Coffee in December. So now that we’ve dropped that in there, let’s cut straight to the chase and provide a link to purchase a ticket to your wine and dine session here.

Leisurely Presents Resobox’s Vegan Sushi Class, Resobox, Sunday, 10 AM to 12 PM

We’re slightly obsessed with Japanese food here at Leisurely, which is why we’re excited this class includes a grocery guide so we can find all the ingredients needed to make sushi at home. But first, we’re gonna learn to make a selection of vegan rolls before eating them one after the other. Reserve a spot for the next phase of your culinary evolution here.
