Weekend Vibes: Oktoberfest Edition
What are we up to this weekend? We’re gonna let the photos speak for themselves (but we'll also describe using words why we like each of these epic events).
62nd Annual German-American Steuben Parade, Fifth Avenue from 68th to 86th Street, Saturday, 12 pm
If beer and pretzels don’t excite you, we need to talk about our friendship. But if you really do need extra motivation to go out this weekend, the annual Steuben Parade on Manhattan’s Upper East Side will have you clinking steins and shouting PROST in no time. Speaking of making new friends and getting into the spirit of Oktoberfest…
Oktoberfest, Rumsey Field at Central Park and Watermark Bar, Saturday and Sunday
After the Steuben Parade, you’re going to need somewhere to go, and that somewhere is Oktoberfest in Central Park or in the Financial District at Watermark Bar. If this is your first time hearing of Oktoberfest, expect lots of beer, brats, and pretzels along with stein holding contests and traditional oompah music. While Watermark Bar is a hike from the parade, the views of the Brooklyn Bridge are definitely worth it in our opinion.
YES Block Party, House of Yes, 2 Wyckoff Avenue, Brooklyn, Sunday, 12 pm to 6 pm
Sometimes after a rough week, you just need to dance your ass off in a public setting. If you’re feeling a bit burnt out, head out to Bushwick for a free block party hosted by the excellent folks at House of Yes . Rain or shine, guests can enjoy soulful music, art installations, and more at this family friendly gathering. We love House of Yes for all things, mostly because they are helping create a fun and inclusive environment in nightlife, and the daytime in this case too. If you want to learn more about why House of Yes is so cool, we definitely recommend checking out this piece by The New Yorker.
