Weekend Vibes: A Historic Birthday Bash, Oyster Class, And Another Chance at Rocking Out in Underwear

If you’re a romantic, you should have Valentine’s Day planned out by now. If you’re not a fan of V-Day or you’re just so lovely you don’t need the reminder, then take this weekend and treat yourself to self-improvement by learning something at one of these events.

Langston Hughes Birthday Bash Celebration, Schomburg Center, 515 Malcom X Blvd, Manhattan, Friday

You know what’s really cool? When New Yorkers celebrate other New Yorkers. Party in the name of poet Langston Hughes on what would have been his 119th birthday by dancing, drinking, and taking in good fun. And since the theme is Harlem Renaissance, guests are encouraged to dress in period appropriate attire too. Score a ticket here.

Cupid’s Undie Run, Stage 48, 605 W 48 Street, Saturday

What will you learn by running around in your underwear? Well you might realize that despite New York becoming more expensive and perhaps more boring over the years, there are still plenty of weird events that will make you say, “Dammit! I love this City.” Also it’s for charity and running around Pier 84 with an after party at Stage 48) without clothing when it’s cold out might make you sick, but it’s also liberating in a way we can’t really compare. Secure a ticket and learn more about what’s involved here.

Oyster Shucking. Zadie’s Oyster Room, 413 East 12 Street, Sunday

Taking an oyster shucking class and then eating oysters, whether you believe they’re an aphrodisiac or not, is a great idea if your relationship depends on fun activities. We have spots available to help you achieve this goal in our upcoming Leisurely class, which you can reserve here.
