Restaurant Radar: Kuxé offers the kind of home cooking that can get you through the week

If you’re craving a home cooked meal at this point in the day, Kuxé is a new restaurant in Greenwich Village that could be the solution. The new restaurant is focused on the regional Mexican food that Chef/owner Julian Medina and his staff find comforting, which means you will probably too, so expect dishes like mole poblano, birria tacos, and borrachito for dessert. To drink, there’s plenty of mezcal and tequila to choose from, and you’ll find margaritas which you will likely order at some point in the night.

The restaurant is the real deal, bringing corn from Oaxaca to make its masa, and we like the fact that the entire kitchen staff is involved in its menu development. The tacos de birria and carnitas tacos are no brainers to order, and some dishes that will likely appear on our table include the tamal de zarzamora and the mole de caderas.

Kuxé can be found at 205 Thompson Street in Greenwich Village and is currently opened for dinner, with brunch to follow.
