Weekend Vibes: The Expand Your Reality Tour & RESOBOX'S Holiday Dinner
At this point we’re thinking you need a pick me up in the holiday season, something beyond hot chocolate, hot toddies, and even hot buttered rum. So we searched far and wide to find some of the more non-traditional holiday escapes this weekend to lift up your spirits.
29 Rooms Presents The Expand Your Reality Tour, 25 Kent Avenue, Brooklyn, Thursday through Sunday
The art world has been getting tons of attention as of late, but that’s what happens when a banana duck taped to a wall sells for $120,00. Luckily, NYC based artist David Datuna ate that banana right off a gallery wall in his display of “performance art,” preserving the idea art will always be what you make of it (the banana was reportedly very tasty). But you don’t have to be an artist and risk arrest to enjoy The Expand Your Reality Tour, which encourages visitors to touch, play, and generally experience art in their own unique way through a series of thematic rooms. We’d try describing this more but you’d really have to just see for yourself in order to get the big picture, so we’ll just send you to this ticket link to learn more here.
The New 80th Floor Observatory at The Empire State Building, The Empire State Building, 20 W 34th St.
Want to learn more about the colorful light displays at The Empire State Building. Or perhaps you just want to see New York from a new angle? Whatever your reasoning, The Empire State Building just opened a new observatory deck on the 80th floor along with a new museum video exhibit, NYC: Above and Beyond. For fans of New York architecture who weren’t that into the ribcage at Hudson Yards, this new view will restore your faith in humanity; reserve a ticket here.
Resobox’s Holiday Dinner and Bubbly Party, 91 East Third Street, Sunday
Okay, so this one we didn’t have to look too far to find, but if you’re in need of some last minute holiday dinner inspiration, we think the best way to find it is to have someone else cook for you. This 5-course dinner includes dishes like mushroom carpaccio and ricotta lasagna, as well as a cooking demo and recipe card which you should absolutely take advantage of once you get home. Reserve a spot here.
