Restaurants We Know You Want to Put on Your Radar
We know when you’re not thinking about which Leisurely class to take next, you’re wandering the Internet in search of new restaurants to explore. That’s why we’re bringing you this week’s latest news on the restaurants we can’t wait to enjoy. Also, if you haven’t eaten lunch yet at this point in the day, let this post serve as a friendly reminder to replenish yourself.
A $68 Tasting Menu Arrives in NYC’s East Village from Two El Bulli Alumni
The resumes of chefs Nahid Ahmed and Arjuna Bull include residencies at some of the world’s most notorious restaurants like El Bulli. That’s why we’re excited to see the duo open their own highly anticipated tasting menu concept, Luthun. The menu, inspired by the duo’s global travels, includes dishes like crispy monkfish served with green curry sauce and squid served with fresh cucumber and Amazonian chile. The wine list is curated by General Manager and Sommelier Patrick Reno, formerly of Chef’s Table at Brooklyn Fare, and will focus on offering wines of all kinds from the planet Earth.
The initial tasting menu includes five courses for $68, with beverage pairings available for an additional $50. Guests also have the option of choosing a vegetarian tasting menu at the same price. Luthun also plans to debut a separate chefs tasting counter menu in the coming weeks. That menu includes a minimum of 10 courses with the price based on that day’s menu items, and an optional beverage pairing starting at $75. Luthun translates to something “new and unexpected” in Bengali, which is exactly the type of dining experience Leisurely loves.
Two New Restaurants from a Brooklyn Neighborhood Favorite Are Opening Soon at The Hoxton DTLA
For anyone who has spent brunch devouring Sunday in Brooklyn’s Sunday Pancakes served with hazelnut praline syrup and brown butter, you know you’ve stumbled upon one of Brooklyn’s best neighborhood restaurants. Thankfully, the Sunday Hospitality Team recently unveiled several menu items from its soon to open restaurants, Pilot and Sibling Rival, which are scheduled to open soon at The Hoxton Downtown Los Angeles. At Pilot, rooftop views and live fire cooking mix with local seafood and aioli prepared table side. Downstairs, Sibling Rival will add to LA’s all-day cafe selection with a menu of togarashi chicken sandwiches, quinoa bowls, and cocktails. Both restaurants as well as the hotel are expected to open this October, which means it’s time to start planning our next West Coast getaway.
