About Your Guide
Nick Hoefly
Owner & Master Beekeeper, Astor Apiaries
Nick Hoefly is a Certified Master Beekeeper who shares his passion through classes, hive tours and an urban beekeeping apprenticeship dedicated to honey bees and pollinators. A veteran of the TV/Film industry, Nick discovered beekeeping as a hobby with a friend. That hobby grew to eventually founding Astor Apiaries with his wife, Ashley.
He is certified as a Master Beekeeper by the Dyce Lab for Honey Bee Studies at Cornell University and the Apiary Manager for The Bee Conservancy (TBC), developing and overseeing the beekeeping strategy at TBC sites across NYC. Nick has also curated the unique collection of honey varietals sold by Astor Apiaries in addition to his NYC Raw Honey.

Founded by Nick & Ashley Hoefly as their beekeeping hobby grew into a full-fledged business, they’ve gone from 2 hives to managing more than 60 across NYC (and still expanding) in just a few short years.
