12pm - 2pm
led by hazel de los reyes (roaster/co-owner)
in-person ⬝ hands-on
To know good coffee, you first need to know how to taste it.
Across the coffee industry, a standard tasting method known as cupping, is utilized to determine the quality of coffee- dictating everything from which beans suppliers buy, how they’re roasted, to how your local coffee shop determines to best brew & serve its coffee.
Join Hazel de los Reyes, award-winning Roaster, and Co-Owner of Australian roastery and café, Gumption Coffee, for an intimate coffee cupping session & tour of her first U.S outpost, in Brooklyn’s Industry City.
In this experience, Hazel will teach us how to taste, score and enjoy the aromas of brewed coffee like a pro. Expect to also pick up lingo used in the coffee industry!
Take it all in at their 6,000 square foot facility, where they also roast their beans on-premise- one of the many unique factors that sets Gumption apart from any other coffee shop.
